Canyonlands National Park and Cataract Canyon on the Colorado River
The trip was organized by CDA and Challenge Aspen for the Wounded Warrior Project.

As always, what made this trip were the people. We rafted and paddled with a group of truly inspiring individuals. The trip was not easy, the conditions were tough, the rapids were challenging but we saw people making the best of their time outdoors. We worked as a team on all tasks, from cooking, camp operations to toilet setup duty. Everyone was a crew on this trip.
There wasn't a dull moment on this 4-day trip. From magnificent views to violent storms that rolled through, at times the flat-water sections provided more excitement than the rapids. We were hit by hail storm, the lightning flashed and the sky rained on us in torrents. We saw rock slides, flash floods, and the fields of logs and debris in the river that looked impassable at times. It was an amazing trip with fantastic people.

Colorado Discover Ability occasionally runs river trips through Cataract Canyon under Special Populations Permit issued by the National Park Service at Canyonlands National Park. The staff of Canyonlands National Park has been instrumental in creating opportunities for rafting for people with disabilities. Thank the NPS staff next time you see them at the Park or at the boat ramp.
