Gold, silver and bronze medals were brought back home by 18 of the 19 athletes from Colorado Discover Ability's Team Powderhorn (Grand Junction's Special Olympics team), which competed in Special Olympics Winter Games at Copper Mountain Resort on March 28-29, 2010.

Thanks to volunteer coaches from Colorado Discover Ability and Powderhorn Resort, youth and adults from the Grand Junction area train many days in the winter season for the regional and state competition. Their hard work paid off in a record number of medals in every division and in both ski and snowboard race events, slalom and giant slalom. About 300 athletes from different teams around Colorado competed in 2010 Winter Games.
